...that Newsweek wrote, "The central fact is that after three quarters of a century of extraordinary mild conditions, the earth's climate seems to be cooling down."
Meteorologists disagree about the cause and extent of the cooling trend, as well as over its specific impact on local weather conditions. But they are almost unanimous in the view that the trend will reduce agricultural productivity for the rest of the century.

As posted multiple times on this Blog (go to right-hand side of page, under "CATEGORIES", "GLOBAL WARMING"), we don't know as much as we think we know. Is global warming occurring? If it is, is human activity the cause? If it is, is the minuscule reduction we could obtain in warming worth the draconian, impoverishing measures governments would have to take to achieve such reduction? If it is worthwhile to engage in such measures, don't the Kyoto-"exempt" countries (China, India) have to come into the fold for the measures to have any net effect? If these countries would have to come into the fold, will they?
Although answering these questions is critical to establishing any rational policy about so-called climate change, the reality is that climate-change consensus among the glitterati is being driven by hysteria and slogans, not by tackling the tough questions. No wonder the Senate voted unanimously in 1997 to advise the President that the Kyoto Protocol would be rejected if sent to that body for a vote. The Protocol never was sent.
Everyone, Everyone. Its going to be ok. Turns out the satellite was just meessd up and the ice cap isn't receding. Also Al Gore is an idiot who put a scene from the day after tomorrow in his documentary, but someone should have told him that the scene was completely computer generated. Also in the 50 s it was global cooling. Climate changes happen its the nature of well nature. The deserts of this planet used to be lush with vegetation yet now are deserts. I'm sure the cave man's fires had nothing to do with it so don't even claim it.
