The United Pro-Choice Smoking Rights Newsletter reports a survey by a Mississippi State University researcher Robert McMillen, M.D. indicating anti-smoking attitudes have increased in the USA from 2005-2006. A key excerpt:
“A growing majority of adults in the U.S. favor restrictions on smoking in public settings, suggesting that many communities across the nation have the public support for much broader public smoking restriction policies,” he concluded.McMillen and his research team conducted six annual cross-sectional household telephone surveys in the summers of 2000-2005, while numerous state and national tobacco control programs were being implemented. The surveys included national probability samples of adults from all 50 states, and had a response rate of 75-87 percent.Support for smoking bans increased from:
--71 to 80 percent in shopping malls;
--61 to 71 percent in restaurants;
--77 to 82 percent in fast-food restaurants;
--25 to 39 percent in outdoor parks; and
--78 to 82 percent in indoor sporting events.Regarding household practices, support increased from 69 to 77 percent for smoke-free homes; and from 79 to 90 percent for smoking bans when children are present.
So, if you smoke in your own home, beware: you're next, especially if you have kids. Just one thing--I wonder how the government will enforce an in-home smoking ban? Will the police be going to Court to get a warrant to break into your house to arrest you if there is probable cause to believe you are smoking in your den?
Will your neighbors have a "hotline" to phone in anonymous tips if the neighbors peer into your windows and see you smoking?
What if you're smoking both cigarettes (increasingly impermissible) and marijuana (increasingly permissible) and you're cited or arrested because someone sees you smoking marijuana in your own home and merely mistook the weed for a cigarette?
Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. This will be one of those times if we move toward a police state in which anti-smoking stormtroopers can issue citations or make arrests for smoking even inside your own home.
Where is the ACLU when you really need it?
Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading properly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different browsers and both show the same outcome.

We're in practically the same boat. My huasnbd has quit several times in the past year for a couple weeks at a time. I had never quit, but really wanted to get to that point where I said today is my day . Well it was this past Monday at 8:12pm. Cold Turkey!! I didn't even tell him till Wednesday; wanted to be sure I was sure.So now we're quitting together. Me cold turkey, him on the gum. We're on like day 3-ish. I've made it everyday with none till like 9pm, and i break down and have 1 or 2 (i had my daughter destroy my secret pack an hour ago, so we'll see how that goes).My huasnbd with the gum is different. he's not supposed to smoke at all, so when I break down finally it's an automatic gee i'm rubbing it in his face; i should've been serious; you're not really helping me kind of dispute.We didn't have a whole lot of conversation about how each of us wants to quit, which we need to do. i'm thinking that what's going to get us through this is being positive on all approaches, regardless. Guilt, resentment, dissapointment, etc are not emotions that help this situation. Pride in how good today was, or how good this hour was, or how many hours it's been, has to be the only way to get through this. We can't put each other down, rule number 1. Neither of us has ever done this before; so neither of us truly knows what's best, rule number 2. We are doing this out of love for ourselves and each other and can't forget that, rule number 3.Honestly, it sucks. It's possible that we're going to have to avoid each other a little to make it through. Good luck to both of you

First of all you have to set his mind set to stop smoking by any means like by tlileng him that you will leave him or something like that. Also show him some examples of bad effects of smoking. Create a fear in his mind about what can happen to him if he smokes and about the future.

reduce the amount he smoeks every two weeks or so. dont stop him all at one time or he will get real grouchy and will have attitude issues from lack of nicotine. dont take the nicotine gums beacause those things are just as addicting.hate to break it to you, but its really just his choice if he really wants to quit he will prticipate. You have to convince him somehow

If you need help and support to quit somikng you are not alone, most people do. While it is possible to go cold turkey and quit without assistance, it isn't for everyone and it can be very difficult to do. So difficult in fact, that the number of people who break the habit without help is very small. Nicotine patches, sprays and gum are a major part of most commercial stop somikng programs. Apart from the enormous cost to your pocket, using nicotine products to stop somikng also has a health cost. Nicotine is a poison and is the reason why smokers are at risk for a wide range of illnesses, some of them fatal. Most people stop somikng to reduce these health risks caused by regular use of nicotine. Many of the herbs used to treat addiction in traditional medicine are effective in helping to control and prevent a wide range of symptoms as well as the craving associated with withdrawal from substances like nicotine and other drugs.Try a natural stop somikng program to quit the habit for good, without risking your health further with more nicotene poison and other side effects.For more info, visit the below cited webpages:

It's illegal to feed your children gasoline inside the privacy of your home, too. Yet nobody worries about the gasoline SWAT team pouncing on the privacy of law-abiding citizens.

Are you serious? You thin people are justified in smoking in the house when they have children? Smoking in your own home when it's just you or you and another adult is one thing... but smoking around a small child should be as illegal as poisoning them would be... they can't decide to move out. If you're too lazy to walk outside to protect the health, the very life, of your child, you have no place being a parent. You're not even a decent human being.
