"Global climate dispruption" is the new Administration-suggested phrase. What a hoot-"global warming" didn't work to panic people and now, apparently, "climate change" isn't working in that regard, either.

So we have yet another suggested phrase that really serves as a cover for yet more regulation on an econonomy already suffocating from a business-suppressing bunch in Washington. After all, "disruption" can be any change in weather than someone wants to label as disruptive and can conveniently justify any government regulation.

Al Gore has had some tough breaks — like losing the presidency after getting more votes than the other guy — but the noted environmentalist achieved a singular honor last week, becoming the first vice president to have a Los Angeles school named after him.

And, fittingly, the school will be devoted to environmental themes.

But as in the 2000 election, there's a catch. Critics say the campus' location poses a long-term health risk to students and staff.

UNITED NATIONS � The scientists involved in producing the periodic United Nations reports on climate change need to be more open to alternative views and more transparent about their own possible conflicts of interest, an independent review panel said Monday.

The revelations about the errors contributed to the already highly charged debate about the science of climate change and gave added ammunition to critics doubting assessments that the earth is warming. Coming on the heels of leaked e-mails among some of the leading climate change researchers which suggested that they were manipulating data, the mistakes contributed to what surveys showed were an erosion in public confidence in the science of climate change.
