I had a different retaoicn to the LA Times articles. I thought it was great that they were reminding drivers and cyclist to be respectful and follow the rules of the road. I also liked that they took the concept of cycling in LA so seriously, acknowledging the growing cohort of bike commuters. I have felt safer on a bicycle than in a car because I feel that I have greater control to react to bad drivers (distracted on a cell phone, turning without signalling, stopping short, etc) I can pull to the side, hop on a sidewalk, maneuver around the car. Knock on wood, but the only serious road accidents I've experienced were in a car, not on a bike.
