When I heard that Canada would probe the potential health effects of wind power on those who live near the giant turbines, my first thought was: Haven’t we been here before? After all, Oregon and Massachusetts have in the past year released big reports that more or less discounted the often-dramatic claims that turbine noise and light flicker are destroying lives.

But there could be a key difference with this study: Canada actually plans to conduct new research.

A new study by a University of Michigan professor shows Americans between the ages of 32 and 52 - a group referred to as Generation X - have said they don’t really care when it comes to matters of climate change and the environment.

Out of the 2,924 people that responded, 41 percent said they were “disengaged” when it came to matters of climate change. Ten percent of them said they were dismissive or doubtful about the climate issue as a whole.
